About the Role

Ventia, a leading infrastructure services company, is seeking a skilled SHEQ Advisor to join their Defence SHEQ team. The successful candidate will be based in Darwin but will require regular travel to Katherine.

The SHEQ Advisor will be responsible for delivering organisational construction SHEQ requirements for Ventia and its contractors. This will involve utilising systems and processes to foster an integrated approach to SHEQ management, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review contractor project documentation to ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements
  • Support the contractor management system to ensure effective SHEQ management
  • Work with Ventia project officers to ensure construction works adhere to safety requirements
  • Conduct field inspections and complete audits on contractor works and management systems
  • Ensure adherence to legislations, regulations, and standards, and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner
  • Undertake aspects of Environment and Quality function
About You
  • Qualification in Workplace/ Occupation Health and Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Health, Environmental or Quality Equivalent
  • Formal training in incident investigation (ICAM preferred)
  • Construction Induction card
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards within a high-risk construction environment
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk, and drive continuous improvement
