Senior Associate Hydrologist/Surface Water Engineer
This is a career opportunity for a senior to associate level surface water engineer - flood modeller. Our team delivers projects across multiple sectors, including mining and minerals, built environment, infrastructure, industry, and power.
The role is diverse and provides an opportunity to assist and drive innovative and sustainable project solutions for clients. We're looking for someone with a passion for flood modelling who enjoys working with people (clients or team).
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver surface water engineering projects to various clients across multiple sectors.
- Apply hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software in your work.
- Work alongside staff developing models and preparing quality reports for internal and external clients on time and within set deadlines.
- Develop relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members.
- Contribute to winning proposals by developing methodologies and identifying the value proposition to help clients meet their deadlines.
- Provide advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Managers on projects regarding best principles and practices.
Skills and Experience:
- An appropriate Engineering tertiary qualification and relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, particularly the application of two-dimensional hydraulic modelling (TUFLOW).
- Experience in hydrological modelling and assessments (DRAINS, RORB, WBNM and XP RAFTS) and understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff and relevant guidelines and standards.
- A strong knowledge base in associated areas of surface water engineering such as stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, water quality assessment, streamflow assessments and flood risk analysis.
- Ability to assess and input into the design of water related structures e.g. dams, levees and diversions.
- Familiarity with MUSIC or GoldSim modelling would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Ability to contribute to Environmental Impact Statements/Environment Assessments amendment approvals.
- Excellent communication skills and technical report writing.
- Able to manage projects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team.
- A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
- Driver's license and ability to travel frequently.
