About the Role

As a key member of our Industries & Trades team at the Clarence Correctional Centre, you will play a pivotal role in delivering trade training programs that equip inmates with essential kitchen skills. Your expertise and guidance will help inmates develop valuable skills, enhancing their chances of successful reintegration into society upon release.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and Evaluate Training Programs: Develop and implement kitchen-based trade training programs, ensuring they meet industry standards and inmate needs.
  • Supervise Inmates: Oversee and supervise inmates in their daily kitchen routines, fostering a safe and productive environment.
  • Mentorship and Rehabilitation: Support inmate rehabilitation by encouraging participation in programs, promoting social interaction, and building confidence.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety policies, maintaining a secure and healthy work environment.
  • Kitchen Management: Manage kitchen inventory and equipment, optimizing efficiency and safety.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Prepare reports on activities and maintain accurate training records, tracking progress and outcomes.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you'll require:

  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain within the first year)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills
  • A commitment to cultural awareness and inmate rehabilitation

Competitive Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
