Aboriginal Case Manager

Job Description:

This is a vital role in helping support community safety by engaging with the local Aboriginal Community.

The successful candidate will manage both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal offenders on court orders, conducting risk assessments, preparing case plans, providing interventions, and addressing the underlying causes of offending.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, both socially and culturally, and the issues impacting it.

They will also possess excellent communication skills, allowing them to effectively communicate with members of the Koori Community.

Furthermore, the candidate should be confident in dealing with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors and have assertiveness in managing complex cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage offenders on court orders, including risk assessments and case planning.
  2. Provide interventions and address the underlying causes of offending.
  3. Engage with the local Aboriginal Community to promote community safety.
  4. Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, its culture, and the issues impacting it.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when interacting with the Koori Community.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • High level of organizational skills, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
