Senior Case Worker

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. Caseworkers provide holistic support to young people and families by addressing the root causes of offending—such as family dysfunction, mental health challenges, trauma, disability, poverty, and social disconnection. They connect clients with essential services in housing, education, and welfare through advocacy, referrals, and coordination. Senior Caseworkers also collaborate with professionals like lawyers and doctors to safeguard clients' rights and ensure access to appropriate care.

The role involves working closely with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service to deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed case management for Aboriginal young people and their families. This includes assessment, goal-setting, and referral to appropriate services, while maintaining detailed records and coordinating with agencies like Youth Justice and Child Protection. The position also requires participation in training, supervision, care team meetings, and professional development, as well as contributing to quality improvement, mentoring colleagues, and engaging with relevant networks to support complex cases.

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant degree and relevant work experience, or with case management would be viewed as desirable
• Valid Police Check, a Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
