About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Cost Planner to join our commercial team in the defence sector. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cost estimation and planning, with a proven track record of delivering projects within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Design Manager to review the developing design and provide cost planning advice to ensure it stays within budget allowances.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the design and provide cost-effective solutions by attending design meetings and offering informed cost advice.
- Provide design consultants with budget-informed direction to facilitate the design development process within budget parameters.
- Explore, price, and propose innovative value engineering and design options to the project team and maintain a register of potential items throughout the project.
- Identify, price, and submit head contract variations to the client, and negotiate financial outcomes with the client's representatives.
- Conduct regular quantity verification analysis to ensure current scope does not exceed contractual scope and associated budget allowances.
- Work with the Commercial Manager to develop the project Budget-to-Build, ensuring it is mapped to the original tender budget.
About You
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in similar positions.
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying is preferred.
- Advanced experience in Estimating/Cost Planning, Risk Identification, and Value Engineering, with knowledge and experience of large, complex projects, including defence.
- Demonstrated ability to review the detail of a developing design in accordance with budget requirements and influence design outcomes accordingly.
- Sound technical construction knowledge.
