About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator/Cost Planner to join our commercial team in the defence sector. The successful candidate will have a strong background in estimating and cost planning, with a focus on defence projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Design Manager to review the developing design and provide cost planning advice to ensure it stays within budget allowances.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the design and influence cost-effective outcomes by attending design meetings and providing cost advice.
  • Provide budget-informed direction to design consultants to facilitate the design development process within budget parameters.
  • Explore and propose innovative and cost-effective value engineering and design options to the project team.
  • Identify, price, and submit head contract variations to the client, and negotiate financial outcomes.
  • Undertake regular quantity verification analysis to ensure current scope does not exceed contractual scope and associated budget allowances.
  • Develop the project Budget-to-Build in conjunction with the Commercial Manager, ensuring it is mapped to the original tender budget.

About You

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in similar positions.
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Quantity Surveying preferred.
  • Advanced experience in Estimating/Cost Planning, Risk Identification, and Value Engineering, with knowledge of large, complex projects, including defence.
  • Demonstrated ability to review the detail of a developing design in accordance with budget requirements.
  • Sound technical construction knowledge.
