Job Overview

The Principal Contract Officer plays a pivotal role in leading effective team involvement and/or participating in end-to-end procurement processes, including tender processes and market analysis. This involves:

  • Leading contract management of suppliers from diverse backgrounds, including contract development and renegotiation as needed.
  • Monitoring supplier compliance with legislation, contracts, investment specifications, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Utilizing tools and systems to analyze and interpret supplier and performance-related information.
  • Providing direction to contract management staff on monitoring and inspecting individual care services covered by a license.
  • Negotiating and maintaining effective working relationships with government agencies and suppliers.
  • Providing high-level strategic and operational advice to senior management on change/improvement strategies.
  • Undertaking projects to improve procurement outcomes and address the needs of vulnerable clients.
  • Ensuring human resources are effectively managed and decisions align with departmental policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

The Principal Contract Officer will also be responsible for:

  • Representing the department at forums with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Preparing and coordinating briefs, correspondence, and reports consistent with departmental guidelines.
