Senior Peer Worker

Grand Pacific Health is seeking an experienced Senior Peer Worker to join our team at the Medicare Mental Health Centre in Young. As a Senior Peer Worker, you will play a vital role in providing open, appropriate, and effective support to individuals accessing or considering connection to Head to Health services.
As a Senior Peer Worker, you will use your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery to support consumers, while also mentoring and guiding the peer worker team. You will work collaboratively with the Medicare Mental Health Young team and external services to maximize care outcomes for consumers.
Key Responsibilities- Provide open, appropriate, and effective support to individuals accessing or considering connection to Head to Health services
- Use your own life experience of mental health and personal recovery to support consumers
- Mentor and guide the peer worker team
- Participate in goal setting activities with consumers to promote self-pride and daily schedule
- Identify opportunities for consumers to learn and build self-esteem
- Provide encouragement and support to access supports
- Keep timely case notes and complete required documentation
- Participate in team meetings and case review meetings
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Peer Worker role
- Direct lived experience of life-changing mental health challenges and/or mental health service use as well as periods of healing and personal recovery
- Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey
