Lead Urban Planner Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Urban Planning Leader to join our team in Melbourne.

As a key leader within the Planning & Environmental team, you will oversee the delivery of urban planning services for a wide array of projects, including high-profile transport, water, and infrastructure initiatives.

Your leadership will directly contribute to some of Melbourne's most transformative projects, guiding projects that span from transport and maritime to water and the built environment.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the provision of statutory and strategic planning advice throughout various project stages, from development to delivery.
  • Manage and secure planning approvals, including overseeing planning permit applications, Heritage Act permits, and other regulatory processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, communities, and internal stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Lead the coordination of sub-consultants and ensure the delivery of high-quality technical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, ecologists, urban designers, and other built environment professionals to deliver integrated project solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in planning or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in statutory and strategic planning, ideally within large-scale infrastructure or urban development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of planning approvals processes for major and complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and mentoring junior planners.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience in business development or marketing activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional planning association.
