Job Opportunity

The Department of Education and Training is seeking a highly skilled professional to join their team as an Assistant Director. This role will play a key part in supporting the improvement of school operational policy and systems, and responding to enquiries, issues and ministerial and executive queries relating to school operational matters.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of improvement strategies relating to school operations
  • Provide high-level strategic advice to senior directors and managers across the division
  • Undertake and lead complex project work relating to divisional priorities
  • Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships across the agency and liaise effectively with other government and non-government agencies and community organisations
  • Initiate and undertake research and prepare high level briefings, reports and papers

Selection Criteria:

  • High level writing skills including experience preparing high level documents and correspondence
  • High level knowledge and understanding of project management approaches
  • High level understanding of strategic priorities in education
  • Ability to lead and influence others to work effectively and collaboratively to achieve strategic improvement outcomes
  • High level communication and negotiation skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary and post graduate qualifications

Working Conditions:

  • Overnight travel may be required
  • The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) or the ability to obtain
