Job Description

The role of the Department of Education is to support individuals to build prosperous lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping people to equip themselves with skills for a 21st century economy and society.

The Information Management Branch oversees how data is collected, organised, distributed, and utilised across schools, early childhood education, corporate offices, and the Department. Focus areas include data governance, advanced analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, master data management, and data warehousing.

This role is responsible for leading the department's AI program of work which includes implementing an enterprise AI strategy, establishing and managing an AI advisory service, overseeing AI proof of concept and pilot projects, and providing expert advice on AI technologies.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong grasp of data ethics and responsible AI principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, demand, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with applying AI and data analytics in an education setting to improve operations and/or productivity.

It also contributes to the development of ethical policies, governance frameworks, and training programs to ensure the responsible use of AI.
