About The Role

The Electronics Design Engineer is a key member of our Defence Systems team at Electro Optic Systems (EOS). As a specialist in electronics design, you will be responsible for applying systematic approaches to solve complex engineering problems in a team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply electrical engineering technical knowledge to design and develop products and systems that meet defined requirements and quality standards.
  • Work with System and Project Engineers to ensure that designs are feasible, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
  • Develop, review, and update electrical design plans and work schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Assist with resolving problems associated with designs, particularly with regards to manufacturing effort and repeatability.
  • Simulate analogue and digital circuits to validate design performance.
  • Document designs, including calculations, design options, and decisions, to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Conduct design reviews to endorse electrical designs and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Provide electronics design analyses in support of product development activities.
  • Conduct research, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment to identify and resolve design issues.
  • Apply test, evaluation, characterisation, verification, and validation of electronic subsystems in collaboration with test engineers.
  • Provide support with the preparation of documentation required to support designs.
  • Prototype electronic circuits, wiring harnesses, and other systems to validate design performance.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to enable cohesive and complete system designs.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Expertise in circuit design in Altium Designer is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital and analogue circuit design.
  • Expertise in embedded microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs is desirable.
  • Knowledge of communication buses, such as I2C, CAN, SPI, and Ethernet.
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and engineering design software.
  • A collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for problem-solving.
  • An ability to apply engineering practices across the engineering lifecycle, from concept development to delivery.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary teams in a structured product development or project engineering environment is desirable.
  • Experience in the Defence sector is desirable.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Engineering are desirable.
