Key Responsibilities

As an Electronics Engineer - Aviation, you'll be responsible for managing a team of skilled technicians who service, maintain, and sustain airborne electronic systems. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Leading operational engineering teams at Air Force bases to ensure equipment is configured and maintained for daily missions.
  • Collaborating with industry partners to modify, upgrade, and sustain Air Force equipment.
  • Applying project and engineering management skills to acquire new capability and meet Australia's evolving needs.
  • Investigating technical incidents and managing workforce standards to ensure aviation safety.
  • Developing your officer skills through roles such as training and staff officer positions to prepare for higher command responsibilities.
Training and Career Progression

We'll provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in electronics engineering. After completing Initial Military Training, you'll undertake a Professional Development and Training (PD&T) year, during which you'll rotate through different roles on an Air Force base. You'll also have the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications and experience, such as becoming a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in the Leadership and Management College of Engineers Australia (EA).

With experience and training, you'll have the potential to specialise in areas such as electronic warfare, avionics systems design, or aircraft capability acquisition.
