We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our growing team in Brisbane, Australia.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to enhance the skillset and offering of our Pump and Pipeline Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with mechanical, civil, and process engineering design, costing, tender documentation, installation, and commissioning of various pump station and pipeline systems across the world.
The job purpose includes:
- Enhancing the skillset and offering of the Pump and Pipeline Team.
- Assisting with the mechanical, civil, and process engineering design, costing, tender documentation, installation, and commissioning of various pump station and pipeline systems across the world.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Planning and scheduling projects, defining the scope of service, and preparing proposals for clients.
- Requesting topographical survey work and laboratory testing work, where required as input for designs.
- Evaluating existing topographical terrain and infrastructure information to identify preferred and alternative pipeline routes, as well as to identify installation configuration options.
- Developing pipeline plan and long section drawings including service crossing details using 3D CAD pipeline modelling software.
- Developing mechanical, civil, and process engineering design criteria, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) schematics, operating and control philosophies, etc.
- Performing steady state pipeline hydraulic designs using Excel or hydraulic modelling software.
- Performing surge analysis for pipeline systems using software such as Bentley Hammer.
- Performing pipeline peripheral designs related to thrust, thermal expansion, valve, and flow meter stations and service crossings.
- Performing pipeline stress analysis and pipe installation calculations from basis equations or using software such as Bentley AutoPIPE.
Required Attributes & Qualifications:
- B. Eng Mechanical Engineering degree.
- CPEng / RPEQ certification or eligibility to apply within 12 months of joining.
- At least 3 to 5 years of specialised experience in pumping and pipeline system engineering designs.
- Previous knowledge (or aspirations to develop knowledge) in the specialized field of slurry pipeline design for tailings projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
- Experience developing capital expenditure and operational and maintenance cost estimates for projects.
- Proficient in using hydraulic surge analysis software will be of value.
- Experience in 3D modelling software will be an advantage.
