About the Role

The Senior Credit Underwriter will play a crucial role in evaluating the financial viability of sponsors and guarantors of affordable rental housing developments utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) financing.

This position requires an expert with analytical skills and knowledge of LIHTC equity underwriting or other real estate feasibility analysis. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate effectively with external partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses of sponsors and guarantors, including review of financial statements and preparation of multi-year financial analysis spreadsheets.
  • Identify key characteristics and communicate findings to the Underwriter, focusing on strengths and vulnerabilities in a developer's financial condition and ability to support guarantees.
  • Make recommendations based on analysis and provide guidance on appropriate subject(s) and level of analysis for a given transaction.
  • Analyze consolidated statements, reviewing legal relationships, activities, assets, and liabilities of consolidated entities to determine which entity or group of entities is to be evaluated.
  • Train staff on factors to consider in reviewing financials for various types of entities, including for-profit, non-profit, individuals, and housing authorities.
  • Prioritize complex tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent, with 8-10+ years' experience required; Master's degree and 5+ years' experience accepted, with CPA preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in auditing and/or financial analysis of real estate development companies.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with ability to work collaboratively and prioritize competing demands.
  • Proven capacity to adapt to changing circumstances, with high level of ethics and commitment to serving the community.

Total Rewards:

As a valued member of our team, you will enjoy a comprehensive total rewards package, including a base salary of $130,000 to $145,000, depending on skills and experience, plus annual performance bonuses and generous paid leave programs.
