
Family Support Specialist

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in foster care. As a Support Worker, you will work closely with families, carers, and agencies to ensure that children receive safe, stable, and positive care experiences.
The role combines case management, administrative responsibilities, and face-to-face visits with children and carers. No two days will be the same as you provide practical support, advocacy, and guidance. Your ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively will be key to your success in this role.

Duties of this role include managing a caseload of children and young people in foster care, working directly with carers, families, and government agencies, conducting home visits and providing ongoing support to children and carers, writing case notes, reports, and maintaining accurate records, advocating for the rights and wellbeing of children in care, balancing administrative tasks with face-to-face client engagement, and using Microsoft Office skills.
Essential skills and qualifications for this role include experience in Out of Home Care or a similar role, strong communication and relationship-building skills, excellent written skills for reports and documentation, proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, resilience, adaptability, and flexibility to work non-standard hours, ability to work independently and as part of a team, current NSW Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain), NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain), and current Australian Driver's Licence.
Desirable qualifications for this role include qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, or related field, and broader experience working with children, families, or community support services.
