We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Practitioner to join our team at Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. As a Legal Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing expert casework assistance and information to clients and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level client services in Family and Civil Law proceedings, including casework relating to Child Protection and Domestic Violence Applications, and Civil Litigation generally.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of key legislation, practices, and procedures in the fields of Family Law and Civil Law.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal Legal Officer and Directors of Law to develop culturally competent legal services.
- Assist in the development of Court Support/Field Officers' and other legal staff members' training/education.
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland or holder of (or eligibility for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to empathetically convey sound information or advice.
- Minimum two (2) years post-admission experience, with graduates with a significant comprehension of the application of relevant legislation and employment experience also considered.
