About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Ecologist to join our Project Ecology team at NRM Environmental jobs, NRM. As a Field Ecologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the environmental sustainability of our renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys of bushland areas to identify habitat features that support protected native fauna.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize the impact of vegetation clearing on the environment.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that environmental management plans are implemented effectively.
  • Provide expert advice on animal handling and relocation techniques.
  • Conduct field surveys and data collection using GPS and other mapping software.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of field observations and data.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary degree in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in flora identification and fauna handling.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and spend extended periods away from home.
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to walk up to 12km in a day.
  • Valid Australian driver's license and ability to drive manual and four-wheel drive vehicles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with GIS and other mapping software.
