About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic ecologist to join our team in Sydney. As a junior ecologist, you will have the opportunity to work with a globally recognized environmental consultancy, providing high-quality services to a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply your knowledge of NSW flora and fauna to assist senior ecologists in providing advice to clients, both in office and in the field.
  • Participate in field survey programs to collect various ecological data.
  • Support the interpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across different sectors under the guidance of more senior staff.
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals, including the development of budgets and resourcing plans.
  • Support the team in studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies.
Requirements
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of NSW flora and fauna.
  • Scientific or consulting report writing and computer skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • 1-2+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production.
  • Experience in flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs.
  • Flora and fauna identification skills.
  • Knowledge of and training in the Biodiversity Assessment Method.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Project management experience in relation to client management and budget control.
