Coal Mine Electrical Maintenance Specialist

About the Role
  • As a Coal Mine Electrical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on longwall equipment, including shearers, AFCs, BSLs, hydraulic roof supports, and power distribution units.
  • You will identify and rectify electrical faults using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge, install and commission electrical infrastructure during longwall moves or new panel setups, and assist with electrical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • You will also perform insulation resistance testing, earth fault loop testing, and high-voltage testing, monitor the performance of electrical equipment, and identify potential failures before they occur.
About You
  • To be successful in this role, you will need an Australian recognized Electrical trade – Certificate III in Electrotechnology, a current QLD Electrical licence, and proven experience in underground coal mining, particularly with longwall systems.
  • You will have a sound understanding of longwall mining systems and automation, a commitment to maintaining and promoting a safe work environment, and a team player with a strong work ethic and flexible attitude.

This position offers a 7:7 day/night roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah), DIDO (Drive-In, Drive-Out) or FIFO (Fly-In, Fly-Out) lifestyle. Whilst on shift, you will stay in camp accommodation with all the necessary facilities, including gym, quality meals, recreation areas, and more.
