As a Fire Communications Officer, you will be at the forefront of emergency response in Queensland. Your role will involve accepting incoming calls and enquiries, collecting relevant information, and assessing risks to determine the most appropriate response.

About the Role

The Fire Communications Centre is responsible for dispatching on-scene communications, coordinating resources, and monitoring fire alarms. You will work closely with operational staff to ensure effective communication and support during incidents.

Key requirements include a valid Blue Card, Australian Citizenship or Resident Status, and a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations). Additionally, you must be able to complete training programs, such as the Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP).

Responsibilities
  • Accept incoming calls and enquiries and collect relevant information
  • Assess risks associated with a situation and determine the appropriate response
  • Dispatch and coordinate resources, including notifying other organisations
  • Maintain and update incident information in the centre's computer aided dispatch system
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff

Other responsibilities include contributing to improvement of operational systems and procedures, identifying technical faults, and undertaking administrative tasks as required.
