Data Centre Operations Manager Role

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to join our elite team.

  • This is an exceptional opportunity for a technical professional looking to take their skills to the next level and contribute to the maintenance of one of the world's largest information system infrastructures.

The successful candidate will have experience in creating strategies, mentoring people at all levels, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. This role involves leading teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participating in an on-call rotation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assigning trouble tickets to data centre technicians and operators and reviewing the ticket queue for large events to address accordingly.
  • Training and educating data operations technicians on best practices related to service owner issues.
  • Managing mid-size projects from start to finish.
  • Developing and overseeing policies and procedures to meet industry standards and required SLAs.
  • Maintaining a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills.
  • Coordinating the on-call schedule, including absence and vacations.
  • Recruiting and training data technicians to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Delivering performance reviews for staff members.
  • Improving processes and procedures continuously, driven by a culture of improvement.
  • Assisting in managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with and exceeding local Health & Safety standards in all data centres.
  • Developing and maintaining metrics for all aspects of the data centres and using these metrics to drive positive improvements.
  • Implementing service methodologies, including incident management, problem management, change management, and capacity management.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Data Centre Operations Manager or similar role.
  • Strong technical understanding and experience with AWS Data Centre Operations.
  • Experience in people management and leadership.
  • Ability to create and devise strategies, mentor others, and propose technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
