Anatomical Pathology Specialist Position

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Anatomical Pathology Specialist to coordinate a state-wide joint recruitment process. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to apply once and be considered for multiple positions within Anatomical Pathology.

The successful candidate will have the option to negotiate fractional appointments between themselves, Clinical Directors, and Directors of Operations.

Thirteen full-time equivalent vacancies are available across NSW Health Pathology Labs.

  • Regional sites: Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, John Hunter, Tweed, Wagga Wagga, Wollongong
  • Metropolitan sites: Concord, Gosford, Liverpool, Nepean, Westmead

This role offers rapid skill development and career advancement in a collaborative environment, with opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary meetings, teaching, and research.

About NSW Health Pathology

We are the largest Anatomical Pathology public service provider in Australia, employing over 160 Anatomical Pathologists across the State.

Our team provides diagnostic, consultative, and on-call services, including Histopathology, Cytopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Molecular Pathology, and a statewide non-coronial autopsy service.

Requirements
  1. Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Anatomical Pathology, and/or other specialist recognition.
  2. Commitment to basic, applied, or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
  3. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with effective communication and adaptability.
  4. Demonstrated personal qualities including motivation, initiative, time management, and commitment to professional development.
  5. Commitment to clinical quality management, continuous improvement, and knowledge of NPAAC Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
  6. Contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in Anatomical Pathology, including subspecialty expertise or willingness to undertake subspecialisation.
