We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Chief Engineer to join our team in Downtown Cleveland. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in general property maintenance and operating access control systems, fire alarm/life safety systems, and Building Automation Systems.

Job Summary

The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel's interior and exterior, supervising engineering department employees, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly or periodic inspections of building systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, structural system, vertical transportation, roofs, parapets, gutters and leaders, parking area, drainage, ramps, and approaches, irrigation, and Fire/Life Safety, Water treatment, HVAC controls, and Plumbing systems.
  • Estimate, complete, or delegate mechanical or cosmetic projects and tasks, ensuring scope, plans, materials, and workmanship meet regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze requests, issues, and emergencies, making quick technical decisions based on circumstances.
  • Provide input to enhance departmental processes.
  • Evaluate workload and plans, directing and coordinating maintenance operations of building plumbing, heating, ventilation, AC, and ancillary systems and infrastructure equipment.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 4 years' experience working in building management/engineering.
  • Technical certification and advanced knowledge of building maintenance and mechanical engineering and repair.
  • Previous Engineering department experience within a hotel environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience in managing a large team.
