About the Role

Camberwell Girls Grammar School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Head of Sport (Years 7-12). This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated educational leader who is committed to educating young people for their future, building the capacity of staff, and demonstrating exceptional people management, planning, and implementation skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, collaborate with, and coordinate staffing for the Department, including orientation, support, and review.
  • Ensure a collaborative working focus and environment within the Department and other areas of the School.
  • Facilitate the selection of sports and recreational activities to be offered at CGGS.
Program Planning and Organisation
  • Attend and plan committee meetings with the relevant associations to ensure participation of our students in club and representative sporting events/activities.
  • Oversee and manage the Deakin Associate Teaching Program.
  • Attend GSV and SSV delegates meetings and keep key members of the management committee updated on matters raised at these meetings.
Event Planning and Organisation
  • Oversee the planning for major annual House sporting carnivals (Swimming/Diving, Athletics, and Cross Country), including booking of external venues, completion of venue checklists, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee the planning for GSV Carnivals (Athletics, Cross Country, Swimming, Diving, Triathlon, and Golf).
  • Oversee the planning for All Schools relays for Cross Country and Athletics.
Management of Staff and Coaches
  • Provide leadership and management to the members of the Sport department, CGGS Aquatics department, and staff involved in sports coaching and coordinating.
  • Oversee, in liaison with the Director of Co-Curricular Programs, the allocation of all teaching staff to appropriate coaching duties.
  • Manage rostering for coaches.
Recognition and Record Keeping
  • Manage the accurate collection of data associated with training attendance and competition participation.
  • Ensure accurate results are forwarded in a timely manner to organisational bodies as required.
  • Analyse and evaluate participation data for individual activities and students across the School.
Recreational Sports and Fitness Programs
  • Oversee the before school, lunchtime, and after school sports/fitness programs, including Round Robins, Running Group, and Strength & Conditioning.
Teaching
  • Develop and implement programs that improve student learning and teaching.
  • Model and encourage staff to use contemporary teaching methodologies.
  • Model exemplary teaching, assessment, and reporting practices.
Professional Learning
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to professional learning growth through reflection, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Collaborate with the Professional Learning Coordinator as necessary to prepare and implement a departmental professional learning plan in accordance with School priorities, AITSL Professional Standards, and the individual professional learning needs of the staff.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary degree with teaching qualification.
  • Experience in sports coaching and teaching Physical Education.
  • VIT Registration.
  • Anaphylaxis Awareness qualification in line with Ministerial Order 706.
  • Mandatory Reporting qualifications.
  • Disability Standards for Education qualifications.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Asthma qualifications.
