About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Design Engineer to join our team at Koala. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality upholstery products that meet our customers' needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take technical lead on assigned projects, including material selection and specification, construction design and validation, with production-friendly considerations.
  • Develop and implement packaging solutions for upholstery category products.
  • Design and develop product documentation and specifications for suppliers to follow in production.
  • Develop assembly instructions for upholstery category products.
  • Collaborate closely with designers to resolve part design issues and ensure optimal user experience while minimizing part complexity and cost.
  • Identify and implement engineering solution improvement opportunities within the upholstery category.
  • Ensure product compliance with legal requirements and relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with quality teams to develop and implement in-house testing capabilities, including lifecycle and other performance testing.
  • Communicate technical agendas with suppliers and other development partners.
  • Assist the Furniture Engineer Leader in technical problem-solving.
  • Support the Furniture Engineer Leader in effectively communicating with key stakeholders, including explaining design rationales and new design decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a design engineering or similar role, with exposure to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with consumer products and user-centric design principles.
  • Strong curiosity and ambition, with a passion for problem-solving.
