Strategic Insights Director

About the role:

The Strategic Insights Director plays a pivotal role in shaping an organisation's long-range strategy by leading the development of robust, system-level advice to guide decision-making.

This key role brings together strategic foresight, planning, engagement and enterprise reporting into a consolidated capability that supports leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and integration of long-range enterprise strategy and planning frameworks;
  • Delivering high-quality internal and external reporting, including corporate plans;
  • Interpreting complex data and policy signals to provide authoritative guidance on economic trends and feasibility;
  • Developing insights to inform strategic messaging and support communication of organisational vision and outcomes;
  • Establishing and improving enterprise performance measurement and evaluation frameworks;
  • Providing strategic foresight through scenario modelling and risk-informed planning;
  • Stewarding an insight ecosystem – connecting data holders, surfacing strategic questions and reducing duplication;
  • Collaborating with internal teams and academic communities to publish research contributing to policy debate and establishing thought leadership;
  • Partnering with agencies to ensure positioning in national policy agendas;
  • Representing the organisation in external forums and participating in relevant communities of practice;
  • Building strategic capability across the organisation by modelling analytical rigour, collaboration and clear direction;
  • Leading a high-performing team committed to integrity, evidence-based decision-making and public service outcomes.
