This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting our clients' tailings and mine waste management teams to ensure their facilities are safe.
Compliance with the latest standards is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and obtain the Social License to Operate. This role forms part of our team to provide technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF).
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will apply your skills in civil/geotechnical/tailings dam design, geotechnical analyses using various software packages, understanding of tailing deposition modeling (Muk3D), geotechnical and environmental site characterization, development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems, project/task management and proposal preparation support, and preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field.
- Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Professional registration preferred but not essential.
- 5 to 10+ years of consulting experience operating within a geotechnical practice group.
- Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software required.
- Knowledge of numerical modeling tools preferred.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment handling multiple project assignments meeting strict deadlines and traveling to client facilities as needed.
- Civil or tailings engineering general.
- Experience in GIS CAD or Tailings Modelling software i.e. QGIS 12d AutoCAD Civil3D or Muk3D.
- Familiarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD GISTM CDA and WA-DMR.
- Excellent writing and communication skills required.
