Job Overview

Vellex Logistics, a leading Australian logistics company, is seeking a skilled Operations Manager to oversee the effective and efficient operation of its Dandenong site.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and compliant delivery of freight, maximising productivity, and minimising costs within operations.

This role involves:

  • Coordinating the dispatching and tracking of freight delivery
  • Optimising utilisation of all company vehicles and forklifts
  • Facilitating communication between departments for efficient operations

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring freight is delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with company requirements
  • Maximising productivity and minimising costs within operations
  • Enforcing relevant rules, standards, and procedures across the site
  • Building professional relationships with company and subcontractor workers
  • Overseeing employee performance and providing guidance as needed
  • Managing labour requirements for operational needs
  • Maintaining a safety-focused attitude to ensure a safe and compliant workplace

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong people management and leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in operations management or supervision
  • A positive attitude, with high levels of courtesy and professionalism
  • The ability to coordinate operations efficiently and effectively
  • In-depth knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Law and Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and versatility to handle changing work requirements
  • Acute listening, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • A valid Forklift licence is preferred
