Accounts Receivable Officer Job Description

A challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Receivable Officer to join our dynamic team in the Western Suburbs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Timely collection of debtors within the company's trading terms, ensuring a positive customer rapport is maintained at all times.
  • Weekly debtor reporting to the Senior Accountant, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Processing receipts, including cheques, direct deposits, credit cards, and webstore captures/downloads.
  • Investigating and resolving escalated customer debtor disputes promptly, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Major customer account reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Ensuring collection targets are reached for respective ledgers, maintaining a maximum DSO of 45-55 days.
  • Phone contact with customers of unpaid accounts by phone or email by the 10th of the month following the due date for payment, to ensure timely account collection and build customer rapport.
  • Monitoring potential bad debts and advising the Senior Accountant on a timely basis.
  • Managing on-hold customers to ensure they are trading within assigned or approved credit limits.
  • Processing credit applications, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Attending to customer requests via email/phone promptly, providing excellent customer service.
  • Telephone calls are answered promptly – internal/external.
  • General administrative duties as required, including filing and scanning (to be kept up-to-date), and ensuring a neat workspace is maintained at all times.
  • Ensuring systems and procedures are adhered to.
  • Any other accounts receivable responsibilities and duties that are assigned from time to time.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in accounts receivable, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Familiarity with CRM software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
