About the Role:

You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, building, and testing high-performance mechanical systems as part of our Starship spacecraft program. This role involves working closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop solutions to complex problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize mechanical designs for the Starship spacecraft, including primary and secondary structures, thermal protection systems, aerodynamic control surfaces, and stage separation systems.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to balance operational needs across vehicle systems while optimizing for speed, performance, and cost.
  • Design and execute qualification testing to ensure the integrity and reliability of our mechanical systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to mechanical design and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., mechanical, aerospace, or materials science).
  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical design and analysis (competition team or internship experience qualifies).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with FEA or multiphysics simulation packages (e.g., NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical first principles and structural analysis methodologies.
  • Proficiency in selecting materials and manufacturing methods for mechanical components.
  • Analytical/scientific programming experience (e.g., Python, Matlab, Excel).
