**Role Overview**

The Team Leader, Conservation and Mining is a senior position responsible for developing and implementing departmental policy and strategies related to exploration and mining activities in protected areas.

This role involves working closely with regulatory bodies and industry entities to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and protect conservation values.

A key aspect of the job is leading a small team of staff who work collaboratively with regional teams and specialists to provide high-level advice.

The Team Leader also represents the department in on-ground inspections in protected areas, including remote locations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement departmental policy and strategies for exploration and mining activities in protected areas.
  • Work with regulatory bodies and industry entities to ensure compliance with protected area legislative requirements.
  • Represent the department in on-ground inspections and provide high-level advice.

Requirements:

  • A current Class C driver's license and ability to safely operate a 4WD vehicle are essential.
  • Intra-state travel will be required, including fieldwork in remote locations and occasional overnight absences.
