Job Overview

Transport for NSW's transformative agenda has led to the establishment of the Transport Asset Manager (TAM) role. The TAM enhances the safety and reliability of the state's heavy rail assets, facilitating long-term investment in rail infrastructure while ensuring efficient operations and asset surety. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Specialist to lead the strategic management of Heavy Rail Facilities & Property.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy, currency, and compliance of the Asset Register across the asset class.
  • Analyse data, assess risks, evaluate costs, and consult stakeholders to prepare evidence-based business cases, reports, and strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop integrated investment plans aligned with long-term infrastructure strategies, system reliability, and funding considerations.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of integrated Transport Asset Management Strategic Assets and Services Plans (TAM SASP) and Asset and Services Plans (TAM ASP) for the portfolio.
  • Provide technical assurance on safety, environmental, maintenance, and operational performance of the asset class.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for asset improvements, including technology adoptions, upgrades, renewals, and divestments to optimize lifecycle value.
  • Participate in governance as the asset owner, approving changes in program intent related to acquisition, sustainment, renewal, and divestment activities.
Key Challenges:
  • Establishing and enhancing collaborative methods across Transport for NSW's asset portfolio.
  • Managing the lifecycle and operational demands of heavy rail facilities, property, energy, and utilities in a complex regulatory and stakeholder environment.
  • Balancing investment planning and asset strategies to optimize cost, performance, and risk for diverse asset categories while ensuring network resilience and sustainability.
