Aboriginal Family Support Specialist

This role involves working with vulnerable children and families to prioritize their safety and wellbeing. It is a meaningful position that requires sensitivity, respect, and effective communication.
The caseworker will work collaboratively with parents, family members, children, or young people to address safety concerns and provide support through home visits. They will also develop safety plans and conduct risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:- Work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children, or young people.
- Collaborate with other agencies and engage in complex problem-solving.
- Assist families in setting goals that meet their needs, addressing safety and wellbeing concerns, and providing appropriate support.
- Develop safety plans and conduct risk assessments.
- Manage cases involving high needs and high-risk clients and their families.
- Participate in court processes, including preparing documents and attending hearings.
- A relevant diploma or degree (preferred).
- Candidates without formal qualifications require at least two years of experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families.
- Ability to build positive relationships, supported by excellent communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- A current Working with Children clearance.
- Verification of Aboriginality, confirming you are of Aboriginal descent and identify as Aboriginal.
