About the Role

The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from registered medical practitioners who have a passion for teaching. This role involves teaching opportunities in the Foundation Years of the Doctor of Medicine program, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Tutoring, Communication and Clinical Skills sessions, Clinical Debriefing sessions, and tutoring in workshops such as Surgical Skills and Aged Care Visits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct teaching to the standard of the Faculty, including preparation for topics and facilitating group discussions.
  • Consult with students on readings, weekly topics, and assessment.
  • Participate in assessment activities, including marking and providing feedback.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Head of Foundation Years.
  • Perform other duties as identified by the Head of Foundation Years.
  • Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of work and conduct.
  • Undertake Professional Development as arranged by the Head of Foundation Years.
  • Provide high-level pastoral care to students.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Hold a relevant qualification (MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical qualification).
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Support the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
  • Understand and commit to teaching in the context of the Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia.
  • Have a high level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in small group tutorials.
  • Maintain currency in scholarship and professional practice.
  • Be able to incorporate technology into teaching and learning.
  • Deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes, including online delivery.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
  • Provide evidence of high-level pastoral care to students.
