About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Defence sector team at Duratec Australia. As a key member of our Pre-Contracts Team, you will be responsible for accurate bid preparation, presentation, and follow-up of Defence sector tenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calculation and preparation of quantities for Defence projects
  • Preparation of Request for Quotations (RFQs) to send to subcontractors
  • Review and assess tender documents received from Defence clients
  • Attend industry briefings and meetings as necessary
  • Providing accurate cost and drafting estimates for Defence projects
  • Collecting and following up on quotes from suppliers
  • Maintain and produce accurate project records and reports
  • Conduct commercial, risk, and profitability reviews for Defence projects
  • Complete tender schedules and documentation as required
  • Communicate tender outcomes to all involved stakeholders
  • Assist in responding to clarifications or additional information requests from Defence clients
  • Detailed tender handover with traceability and support into pre-contracts and delivery
  • Liaise positively with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence clients and subcontractors

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar equivalent
  • Previous experience in Estimating for Defence projects is highly desirable
  • Ability to carry out detailed and accurate material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and professionalism
  • A strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Ability to identify new project opportunities and ensure a high success rate of team bids
  • High-level attention to detail with the ability to work to set timeframes
  • Computer literacy and the capacity to use current PC-based software, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and communications
