Finance Leader for Financial Reporting and Tax

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Leader to join our dynamic team as a Financial Reporting and Tax Manager. This is a fixed-term opportunity for 18 months in a full-time capacity.
The successful candidate will lead the team responsible for financial reporting, tax, and the implementation of Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards at Aurizon.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the technical accounting team, oversee external financial audits, and prepare papers for Executive Management, the Board, and the Audit, Governance and Risk Management Committee.
- Develop and implement financial accounting policies, including integrating Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards into financial reporting.
- Manage the group accounting team responsible for month-end processes, general accounting reports, reconciliation processes, treasury accounting, and maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and external parties to oversee complex accounting entries, acquisitions, divestments, equity transactions, hedge accounting, and share-based payments.
- Oversee the tax function and manage the Group's tax risk, ensuring compliance with the Group tax policy and tax controls testing plan.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualification in finance or a related field, or a Master's in Taxation.
- Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- At least 7 years' experience in technical accounting or tax compliance and advisory, preferably in a professional services firm or large corporate.
- Strong leadership skills to drive improvement and positive team morale.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities.
- High analytical skill and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead interfaces between teams and other parts of the enterprise.
- Familiarity with various taxes, including income tax, fringe benefits tax, duties, GST, and other tax legislation applicable to large corporate entities.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
