About the Role:

Aurizon is seeking a highly experienced and motivated financial reporting manager to lead its dynamic team for a fixed term of 18 months in a full-time capacity.

The successful candidate will drive the implementation of Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards at Aurizon, overseeing the coordination and completion of external financial audits and reviews.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the group accounting team responsible for technical accounting and general accounting reports.
  • Managing the development and implementation of financial accounting policies, including integration with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards.
  • Overseeing month-end processes, treasury accounting, and maintaining the integrity of the fixed asset register.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to prepare complex accounting entries, including acquisitions, divestments, equity transactions, and share-based payments.
  • Managing the tax function and overseeing the management of the Group's tax risk.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualification in finance or a related discipline, or a Master's degree in Taxation.
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
  • At least 7 years' experience in technical accounting or tax compliance and advisory, preferably in a professional services firm or large corporate.
  • Strong leadership skills, stakeholder management abilities, and analytical expertise.
  • An understanding of various taxes, including income tax, fringe benefits tax, duties, GST, and other tax legislation applicable to large corporate entities.
