**Job Title:** Senior Finance Leadership Role: Technical Accounting and Tax Expertise

**About the Role:**

Aurizon is seeking an experienced and highly skilled finance professional to lead our technical accounting and tax team. As a key member of our finance leadership group, you will be responsible for driving the implementation of financial reporting standards and ensuring compliance with relevant tax legislation.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination and completion of external financial audits and reviews, preparing and presenting papers to Executive Management, the Board, and the Audit, Governance, and Risk Management Committee as required.
  • Develop and implement financial accounting policies, integrating Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards into financial reporting.
  • Oversee the completion of month-end processes, including general accounting reports, reconciliation processes, treasury accounting, and maintaining the integrity of the fixed asset register.
  • Work with business stakeholders to prepare complex and specialized accounting entries, including acquisitions, divestments, equity transactions, hedge accounting, and share-based payments.
  • Manage the tax function and oversee the management of Group tax risk, ensuring compliance with the Group tax policy and tax controls testing plan.

**About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in a finance-related discipline or a Master's of Tax.
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • At least 7 years' experience in technical accounting or tax compliance and advisory, preferably in a large corporate or professional services firm.
  • Strong leadership skills to drive improvement and positively impact team morale.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to influence.
  • High analytical skill and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead interfaces between team members and other parts of the enterprise.
  • Understanding of various taxes, including income tax, fringe benefits tax, duties, GST, and other tax legislation applicable to large corporate entities.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

**Salary:** Estimated annual salary AU$180,000 - AU$220,000, depending on experience.
