Primary Design Engineering Officer Role Overview

This exciting opportunity is for a Primary Design Engineering Officer to join our team as part of a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave until June 2026, with potential to extend based on work volumes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Drafting and Technical Support: Deliver high-quality 2D and 3D models and documentation across civil, structural, hydraulic, and mechanical disciplines to support primary design engineers.
  • Safety, Sustainability, and Compliance: Embed safety in design, climate resilience, and sustainability principles while ensuring adherence to technical standards and quality protocols.
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate across teams to meet project milestones, contribute to design reviews, and support standardisation and continuous improvement in drafting workflows.
  • Innovation and Technology: Embrace 3D modelling, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and automation tools to enhance design integration, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Team and Stakeholder Engagement: Work constructively with engineers and project teams, respond to feedback, and actively contribute to team development and capability building.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Advanced Diploma or equivalent in civil/structural engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in high-voltage substation primary design.
  • Experience with 3D modelling in AutoCAD and Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools or similar drafting applications is highly desirable.
