About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ESG Principal Consultant to join our team at Geoscience Ireland. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and guidance to our clients on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Contribute to the development and implementation of ESG strategic advisory service practice offerings, including materiality reviews, stakeholder engagement, strategy development, implementation roadmaps, sustainability reporting, and submission to specialist ESG indices.
  • Client Delivery: Lead client engagements and teams to deliver high-quality results, on time and on budget.
  • Business Development: Proactively support business development activity to generate leads, write proposals, and win new projects.
  • People Development: Line management responsibility for a small number of direct reports, including support in setting objectives, conducting career development discussions, and supporting development.
  • Raise Our Profile: Contribute to the design and delivery of thought leadership, including executive guides, articles, and reports, and represent Geoscience Ireland at speaking engagements and events.
Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in consulting, business, or not-for-profit sector.
  • Expertise in key frameworks, standards, and regulation, such as ISSB, GRI, ESRS, UNGC, S&P Global CSA, or Modern Slavery Act.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and a passion for cultivating and expanding a strong professional network.
  • Role models core consulting skills and competencies, including research and analysis, problem-solving, critical thinking, synthesizing findings, developing recommendations, report writing, delivering presentations, and facilitating meetings.
  • Leads continuous development of subject matter knowledge in the team by keeping up to date with specialist area trends and best practices.
  • Leads and directs management of complex and/or multiple projects, often acting as the primary client contact.
  • Strong leadership credentials, with judgment to inspire and develop individuals.
  • Clear strategic thinker, strong collaborator, and effective communicator.
  • A strong and positive values-driven vision for how to engage business in building a sustainable and inclusive future.
