- The Child and Family Health Nursing unit plays a pivotal part in primary health care, acting as an entry point into the community health care system.
- By maintaining, improving, and promoting the optimal health and wellbeing of children aged 0-5 years and their families, this role has a profound impact on the community's overall health outcomes.
Key aspects of this role include:
Main Responsibilities- Providing a range of child and family health services to promote safe quality care outcomes for children and families through programs such as Universal Health Home Visiting and Safe Start.
- Fostering breastfeeding promotion, protection, and support, as well as facilitating evidence-based groups delivered to meet child health, development, and parenting support needs of families within the community.
- Utilizing the Family Partnership Model to deliver programs that promote positive health outcomes for children and families.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse is mandatory.
- A proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and respond flexibly to changing clinical priorities is essential.
- Commitment to patient-centred care, cultural safety, and continuous professional development is also required.
