Principal Aircraft Structural Engineer

As a Principal Aircraft Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity and performance of current and future aircraft platforms. You will lead the development, validation, and approval of structural designs, load assessments, and repair solutions.

This position requires expertise in aircraft structural engineering, particularly in modification and sustainment, with knowledge of structural analysis techniques, repair development, and certification processes within Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) environments or equivalent systems. You will be responsible for mentoring teams of engineers and fostering growth in technical expertise and engineering judgment.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as an authority on aircraft structures, providing design, stress analysis, fatigue, and certification expertise.
  • Leadership and Oversight: Lead and oversee the development, validation, and approval of structural designs, load assessments, and repair solutions.
  • Airworthiness Evaluation: Evaluate and ensure all structural solutions meet airworthiness regulations and certification requirements.

You will also collaborate across disciplines – design, systems, loads, stress, and manufacturing – to achieve integrated solutions, representing the structures discipline in design reviews, customer engagements, and technical boards, influencing key program outcomes. A passion for delivering safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions that enhance aircraft performance and lifecycle value is essential.

Requirements:
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in aircraft structural engineering, with proven expertise in both modification and sustainment.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide teams and influence stakeholders.
