The Principal Aircraft Structural Engineer is a pivotal position responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and performance of current and future aircraft platforms throughout their lifecycle.
- This critical role requires expertise in aircraft structures, encompassing design, stress analysis, fatigue, and certification.
- As a subject matter expert, you will lead and oversee the development, validation, and approval of structural designs, load assessments, and repair solutions.
- You must ensure all structural solutions meet airworthiness regulations and certification requirements.
- In this key position, you will provide engineering leadership for AOG and sustainment support, delivering timely, safe, and cost-effective repair solutions.
- You will drive structural trade studies, optimization, and risk assessments to support program-level decisions.
- As a leader, you will mentor and guide teams of engineers, fostering growth in technical expertise and engineering judgment.
- You will collaborate across disciplines – design, systems, loads, stress, and manufacturing – to achieve integrated solutions.
- Represent the structures discipline in design reviews, customer engagements, and technical boards, influencing key program outcomes.
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Extensive experience in aircraft structural engineering, with proven expertise in both modification and sustainment.
- Deep knowledge of structural analysis techniques, repair development, and certification processes within the Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) environment or equivalent CASA, EASA, or EMAR systems.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, guiding teams and influencing stakeholders effectively.
- A passion for delivering safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions enhancing aircraft performance and lifecycle value.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-discipline team.
