Job Role Summary

This is a hands-on position responsible for overseeing daily human resources and payroll operations to ensure compliance with legislation and supporting positive outcomes for staff across the organisation. You'll provide guidance to leaders on employee relations, industrial matters, and change management, while also mentoring and leading a small HR team.

The successful candidate will oversee daily HR functions, including employee relations, payroll, and learning and development activities. This role requires strong knowledge of awards, legislation, and compliance frameworks, as well as excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • Supervise 3 staff members across HR and payroll departments
  • Manage daily HR tasks, including employee relations, payroll, and learning and development initiatives
  • Provide expert advice on workplace legislation, industrial relations, and organisational change processes
  • Support leaders and staff through employee relations matters, including investigations and performance issues
  • Represent the organisation in meetings and provide accurate, timely reporting as required
  • Build strong working relationships with supervisors to support positive outcomes for staff and business units
  • Contribute to audits, reviews, and improvements within HR systems and processes
About You

  • Operational HR experience, including payroll management
  • Strong knowledge of awards, legislation, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Local government experience (desirable)
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to live and work in a regional location
