The role of Chief Strategic Communications Specialist is pivotal in providing expert communication advice and spearheading the development and implementation of integrated marketing and communication strategies across various portfolio areas.

This high-level position involves leading, planning, and implementing wide-reaching integrated marketing, advertising, and communications strategies. The incumbent will take personal responsibility for accurate completion of work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple complex deliverables and communication issues. Key responsibilities include providing strategic solution-based advice, making decisions on matters that should be escalated to senior levels, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders, and fostering a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of and senior-level experience in communications, including managing advertising campaigns, contentious issues, or multi-faceted communication strategies. Expert problem-solving skills are essential to devise and deliver appropriate actions, provide contingencies in the absence of complete information, and in times of uncertainty. The ability to quickly build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and colleagues is crucial to provide advice and influence communication strategies. Additionally, very strong interpersonal skills incorporating expert personal communication techniques, including complex influencing strategies, are necessary.
