Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Primary Engineer with high voltage expertise to join our team. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will provide technical expertise associated with high voltage switchgear and instrument transformers, covering all voltage levels up to 550kV. Your responsibilities will include providing expert input into asset management strategies and philosophies, performance and technical specifications, equipment standards, maintenance policy/practices, and contributing towards strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise associated with high voltage switchgear and instrument transformers, covering all voltage levels up to 550kV.
  • Provide expert input into asset management strategies and philosophies.
  • Support Network Operations to achieve annual capital and operational works plans.
  • Assess and review the condition of power and instrument transformers.
  • Review/audit asset-related databases.
  • Investigate and analyze equipment failures or problems, drafting reports, etc.
  • Making technical decisions in relation to HV switchgear and instrument transformers.
  • Approving relevant technical documentation.
  • Participating in regulatory and internal audits as required.
  • Providing support for emergency response events, as required.

Measures of Success

Your success will be measured by delivering 100% of capex and opex works programs approvals for HV switchgear and instrument transformers from year to year, keeping all HV switchgear and instrument transformer documentation current, completing incident and failure investigations within required timeframes and quality, and adhering to corporate values.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of engineering/asset management experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety outcomes.
  • Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks, and relevant standards.
  • Understanding of relevant Regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations.
  • Ability to connect with organizational strategy and identify what is required at a tactical level to achieve it.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of HV assets, with a focus on HV switchgear and instrument transformers, and emerging trends and innovations.
  • Knowledge of relevant condition monitoring and assessment techniques for HV switchgear and instrument transformers.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize asset performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgement.
