Job Description

This part-time fixed-term appointment (12 months) offers an exciting opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research on next-generation composite geotechnical engineering support elements with robust strength properties. Reporting directly to the Associate Professor (Geotechnical Engineering), you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive research profile under the guidance of a mentor or supervisor, focusing on advancing expertise in geotechnical engineering.
  • Conducting a thorough literature review, executing systematic experimental studies, analyzing data, and preparing detailed reports for our industry partner.
  • Compiling progress reports, participating in industry meetings related to the research project, and effectively communicating and disseminating research outcomes.
  • Establishing and building collaborative research partnerships with various partners.

This role requires an Honours degree or higher qualification in textile engineering or manufacturing, or geotechnical/mining/civil engineering with manufacturing experiences or equivalent tertiary qualifications. Progression towards completion of a Doctoral qualification will be highly regarded.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you will need to possess:

  • Relevant experience in advanced composite manufacturing, pultrusion, braidtrusion, vacuum infusion, injection moulding, multifunctional composites, compression moulding, extruder designing, polymer resin infusion, and other composite manufacturing expertise.
  • A willingness to learn geotechnical/manufacturing engineering concepts under the direction of the mentor.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
