We are a dynamic and proactive team working in the Strategy Division of the Department of Home Affairs. Our division leads on a range of priority policy challenges and cutting-edge issues to help Ministers and senior executives protect Australia's national security, prosperity, and unity.

Overview of Our Work

  • We develop strategic policy advice and economic advice across a wide variety of policy domains, including cyber security, maritime security, grey-zone conflict, and the nexus of economics and national security.
  • We use our birds-eye view of the Portfolio to provide holistic advice to the Government.
  • We work closely with industry, research organizations, and other Government agencies to improve the quality of our advice.

The Role We Are Hiring For

We are seeking an EL1 within the Strategy Division to join our team. As an EL1, you will be working on a range of diverse policy initiatives, including cyber security reforms across the whole of the digital economy, advice on responding to malicious cyber activity, and tackling the global challenge of ransomware.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will contribute to the development of strategic policy advice and economic analysis to support decision-making by the Government.
  • You will work closely with stakeholders across Government to deliver fit-for-purpose, strategy-led, and evidence-based solutions to complex capability planning and development challenges.
  • You will enhance long-term strategic, policy, and operational guidance contributing a strong economic data-centric evidence base for Home Affairs' policy development.
